The Mine Guardian, Yang Shiguo
What’s the story behind this?

In Guizhou, there’s a mercury mine built in the 1940s, once the largest in Asia. At its peak, it employed 20,000 workers. However, as resources ran out, the mine ceased production in the early '90s, becoming an isolated industrial relic. Now, 54-year-old Uncle Yang has been guarding the place for nearly five years, earning just 1,200 RMB a month. This empty land has become his only home.

What We Did

Reaching Out to Uncle Yang: We contacted Uncle Yang through local government channels to understand his living conditions. After assessing his situation, we decided to donate lights to improve his living environment.

Choosing the Right Lighting: Uncle Yang’s room is quite large and needed bright lighting. After evaluation, we chose a ceiling light and energy-efficient LED lights to ensure proper illumination throughout the space.

On-Site Installation: We hired a certified local electrician for the installation. On June 29th, the lights arrived, and the electrician checked the room’s wiring for safety. They reinforced the wiring to ensure Uncle Yang could safely use his appliances.

The Result: Thanks to the donation and installation, Uncle Yang’s living space was significantly improved with brighter and safer lighting.

The Mercury Mine Needs A Guardian:

Life at the abandoned mine is lonely and monotonous, so Uncle Yang has a dog and a few ducks for company. The mine’s owner plans to turn the site into a tourist attraction. We hope Uncle Yang's life improves, and that our help brings some warmth to his home.

Mountain Boy With Big Dreams
What’s the story behind this?

A year ago, we met a cheerful boy in the mountains. When we saw him again, he seemed burdened with worry. His mother was sick, but to save money for his education, she refused treatment. At just 12 years old, he had taken on the responsibility of caring for his family. He worked during the day and studied at night, but without proper lighting at home, he had to use a flashlight to do his homework.

What We Did

We gave him a lamp, hoping to light his life, protect his eyes, and support his dreams. This 12-year-old boy has big aspirations to grow strong and care for his family. With this lamp, we hope he can focus on his studies and feel the warmth from strangers. We want him to hold on to his dreams, overcome challenges, and step into a brighter future.

The Power Of Light

As we were leaving, he walked me across the iron bridge once more. In that moment, his cheerful smile returned, reminding me of the bright, hopeful boy we first met.

Light of Hope — Warming the Heart of the “Meat Bun Grandpa”
The Story

We met an inspiring grandpa who, despite his disability, makes a living selling meat buns. His optimistic attitude in the face of challenges truly moved us. During a visit to his home, we noticed the dim lighting and worried that poor visibility at night could lead to a fall. We decided to step in and bring some light into his life.

What We Did

We reached out to "Meat Bun" Grandpa and sent him a new light fixture tailored to his needs. To ensure proper installation, we hired a certified electrician. The electrician also checked and reinforced the wiring, making it safer and more convenient for him to use appliances in the future.

A Warm Light, Just Like Grandpa’s Spirit

Good lighting does more than brighten a room—it warms the heart. Despite being unable to read or speak, Grandpa always wears a smile and exudes optimism. His cheerful spirit stands in stark contrast to the fast-paced, often indifferent world around us. Through this small gesture, we hope to not only brighten his home but also uplift his resilient spirit.

Lighting the Way for Two Sisters
The Story

A little girl with hearing impairment and striking blue eyes captured our attention. When we learned that the dim lighting in her home made it difficult for her to study, we decided to take action. We wanted to brighten her room, protect her beautiful eyes, and create a better learning environment.

What We Did

Reaching Out: Through local influencers and government channels, we connected with the girl's family. After learning more about their situation, we decided to donate suitable lights to improve their living and learning conditions.

Choosing the Right Lights: Knowing the room was spacious, we chose bright ceiling lights and eye-protecting desk lamps to create a comfortable study space.

A Brighter Future: With the new lights installed, the older sister happily said, "Now, no matter how late I come home, I can do my homework properly." Under the warm light, they can focus on their studies without straining their eyes.

Summary

A well-lit room is more than just a brighter space—it’s a place where dreams take root and grow. For these two little girls, the light not only illuminates their books but also paves the way for a healthier, happier childhood, filled with learning and hope for the future.
